Jim Mann, living with Alzheimer’s, receives Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award

Congratulations to Jim Mann, a member of the Claiming Full Citizenship Conference Planning Committee for this well deserved recognition.  Jim, who is from Surrey, BC, has been a leader in the fight against dementia by advocating for a more concerted response to reduce stigma associated with Alzheimer’s disease, by education people and by taking an active role on the executive boards of both the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.  His work has raised awareness of the disease, promoted inclusion and reduced barriers to diagnosis and care.
