Individualized Funding

This research project, completed in Spring of 2013, concerns the comparison of cost and service utilization across five key modes of service delivery:

• Direct funding (85)

• Host Agency Funding (123)

• Direct funded respite (860)

• Funding via micro-board contracts

• Block funded services

The study sought to identify any significant variations in cost and service utilization across these five service modalities in order to provide an accurate picture of comparable cost for similar services delivered by different means and identify any variation in service utilization across modalities to help us understand if particular service utilization patterns are associated with delivery modalities. Further, the study also seeks to examine key demographic variables associated with each of these modalities. It is hoped that the above information will assist in the design and delivery of efficient and effective services to people with developmental disabilities and their families.

This project was undertaken by the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship under the direction of Dr. Tim Stainton, Principal Investigator. It was part of a broader research initiative being undertaking by the National IF Research Group.
