UBC Vancouver Student Work Learn Position Available

The undergraduate student will work with the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship (CIC) at UBC. The Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship is Canada’s only university-based research centre with a dedicated focus on intellectual disability policy and practice. We work to further the inclusion and full citizenship of people with intellectual disabilities and their families through learning, research and knowledge exchange.

The Project Worker will have a range of substantial learning opportunities and specific project assignments, working on 3 projects: Transitioning Youth with Disabilities and Employment (TYDE); Sex, Lies and Citizenship – A Participatory Theatre Project and; I Am Voting – A community based initiative to encourage adults with intellectual disabilities to vote in local, provincial and federal elections.

The candidate must be detail-oriented, enthusiastic, organized, responsible and have excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, the student will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred. Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend hours will maximize the learning opportunities provided through this position.
