BC Leadership Institute on Developmental Disabilities

You are invited to apply to participate in our upcoming British Columbia Leadership Institute. This Institute is being held byThe University of Delaware’s National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities in partnership with the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship at UBC. The National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities is a consortium of national disability organizations created to develop and support the next generations of leaders.

Applications are open now for the May 14-18, 2018 British Columbia Leadership Institute to be held in Kelowna, BC at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Applications close on March 20th so please plan to apply soon!

The Leadership Institute, funded by The May and Stanley Smith Charitable Trust, is an opportunity to come together with other British Columbia agency leaders to learn from each other, leading experts, self-advocates and their families, and funders.

The expected outcomes of the British Columbia Leadership Institute include:

  • Increased capacity to lead teams, organizations and systems to make  change to enhance the quaility of self-directed, individualized supports;
  • Enhanced personal leadership skills;
  • Higher confidence in personal  leadership efficacy; and,
  • Relationships with leaders who  will continue to motivate and  invest in each other

The University of Delaware, in partnership with The Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship at UBC, will bring their week long intensive program that will support leaders to transform supports in British Columbia for people who have an intellectual or developmental disability. Guest speakers and self-advocates from British Columbia will supplement an agenda of compelling workshops, leadership learning activities and presentations.

The Nitty Gritty

Date: May 14-18, 2018
Location: University of British Columbia Okanagan, 3333 University Way, Kelowna, BC V1V 1V7, Canada
Tuition: (includes some meals and all supplies):  $500 USD (Early Bird Rate, applications received by close of business on March 5th); $700 USD Regular rate, applications received after March 5th and by March 20th). We will send an invoice after you are accepted.
Participants:       Limited to 32 current and emerging leaders, chosen by application process

Travel Information:  Travel and hotel accommodations are at the expense of the participant. We have a room block held at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, 3333 University Way, Kelowna, BC V1V 1V7, Canada should you want to stay on campus. Room options range from $59/night to $129/night. More information available upon request.

Applicants should work in areas of management or program leadership in organizations that provide, advocate for, or fund community-based services and support for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families. Participants will be selected through an application process administered by the University of Delaware.
