Basic Income, Social Security and Poverty Reduction Report

The CIC was pleased to partner with the UBC School of Social Work and others to host a community Symposium on Basic Income, Social Securtiy and Poverty Reduction.  The keynote address was delivered by Dr. David Piachaud, Professor Emeritus of Social Policy at the London School of Economics. Thoughtful discussion throughout the day resulted in several conclusion, “most importantly, basic income, or any poverty reduction strategy adopted, needs to be built on the foundation of human rights, human dignity and kindness.” Read the full report, written by Social Work students Joshua Apland, Meemakshi Mannoe and Holly Mikesh here.
