2021 Graduate Student Interns

We’re pleased to welcome Brett, Ramona and Clayton to our team as graduate student interns.

Brett Mason is a Masters Student in the School of Social Work at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus. Their career has centred on direct service provision with LGBTQ2+ communities through non-profits and health authorities, doing care coordination, support work, and community development work. He has been able to bring an intersectional lens to this work through collaboration with disability rights groups, and many other projects. As part of her MSW Qualitative Research coursework, he is researching trans and Two-Spirit health systems in Alberta, where they grew up.

Ramona Sharma is a 1st year MSW student at UBC Okanagan and holds a BSc in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Psychology, also from UBC Okanagan. Her primary research interests include the intersectionality of race, cultural identity, and disability as a predictor of academic success as well as academic motivation in youth with ADHD and/or ASD. Ramona is a Third Culture Kid (TCK) and grew up globally in a diplomatic family; she has lived in Sweden, Turkmenistan, Mexico, India, Croatia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Zambia, the United States, Canada, and Brazil.

Hello! My name is Clayton and I am a student in the MSW program at UBC Okanagan. I am very excited to work with the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship (CIIC). I look forward to collaborating with individuals who have disabilities and, together, finding ways to create a more inclusive community.
