Advancing Equal Access for People with Intellectual Disabilities in the Workplace will take an evidence-based and community-informed approach to understanding employment accessibility barriers and developing a comprehensive set of accessibility standards, promising practices, and guidelines for advancing employment inclusion for persons with intellectual disabilities.
Grounded in the lived experience of people with intellectual disabilities, employers, and employment agencies, the project will: 1) advance research on employment accessibility standards for people with intellectual disabilities; 2) connect with people with disabilities, other experts, and partners in the disability and employment fields to inform the research, and; 3) identify and share research, best practices, and new guidelines on the topic of employment accessibility barriers and standards for people with intellectual disabilities. The final project deliverables will be used to improve access to employment for persons with intellectual disabilities in a fair and equitable manner.
